Oxford Dictionary- Latest Additions- Here’s a List

Learning is a limitless process; the more you think you know, the more there is to explore. A dictionary is one such thing, that one can never know enough about, no matter how much you try. The Oxford Dictionary has announced a new list of all the words added. Let us take a quick look at some of them. You should note, the list not just includes words, but also much-used phrases.

Oxford Dictionary- Latest Additions

1. Hench

Meaning: “Of a person: having a powerful, muscular physique; fit, strong.” Sentence: Jacob used to be ver hench when he was younger; he has not taken care of his body in the past few years.

2. Kvetchy (Adjective)

Meaning: “Given to or characterized by complaining or criticizing; ill-tempered, irritable.” Sentence: My boss is nothing but kvetchy all day long. He just cannot stop nagging me!

3. Sef (Adjective)

Meaning: “Used for emphasis after a statement or rhetorical question, often expressing irritation or impatience.” Sentence: My sister always precedes all her arguments with a sef which adds more power to her statements.

4. Awesomesauce (Adjective)

Meaning: “Extremely good; excellent.” Sentence: The ladies’ awesomesauce weekend in Vegas ended prematurely.

5. Chuckheaded (Adjective)

Meaning: “Unintelligent, dim-witted, stupid.” Sentence: My neighbor is the most chuckheaded person I have ever met. He has no sense of garbage disposal, or parking.

6. Eyelessness (Noun)

Meaning: “Lack of fear of, or reverence or respect for, authority.” Sentence: “I am telling you, your eyelessness towards your management will cost you your duty.

7. Farkakte (Adjective)

Meaning: “Covered in excrement. rare.” Sentence: The aura of the entire area was farkakte since the celebrity who was raised there is visiting them today.

8. Weak sauce (Adjective and Noun)

Meaning: “That lacks power, substance, or credibility; pathetic, worthless; stupid.” Sentence: We all thought Laura was a weak sauce until she won the promotion over all of us.

9. UFO (Noun)- Yes! It has a new meaning in the Dictionary!

Meaning: “In knitting, sewing, quilting, etc.: an unfinished piece of work; a project left uncompleted.” Sentence: This sweater is a UFO that my grandmother started, but could not complete.

10. Tokunbo (Adjective)

Meaning: “Denoting an imported second-hand product, esp. a car.” Sentence: My vehicle may be tokunbo, but it is still the most expensive one anyone I know has in this city!
